They celebrated their premiere at the High-end 2024 in Munich, but now they are all ready and can be found in specialist shops, and are broadly positioned and thus suitable for both the finest HiFi systems and appealing home cinema, the solutions of the new Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection from Sonus faber S.p.a..
The now available second generation of this speaker series is the first product line to incorporate acoustic technologies developed by Sonus faber S.p.a. specifically for the Sonus faber Suprema system, the outstanding flagship of the long-established loudspeaker specialist from Vicenza.
Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection – the poetry in the name
The fact that Sonus faber S.p.a. always demonstrates a very special flair for art in general and a deep understanding of music in particular as the basis for the development of the latest products, starting with the technology, the design, but also the naming, is once again demonstrated here.
This product line is named after the sonnet, the oldest Italian poetic structure, as emphasised by the manufacturer. Once again, Sonus faber S.p.a. has demonstrated that it always knows how to combine tradition with technology, thereby designing state-of-the-art solutions.
Classic lute shape
The fact that the new models in the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection rely on a lute shape in the tried and tested manner is hardly surprising, as this has long been a kind of trademark of the Italian company and is still one of the best design concepts from a purely acoustic point of view. It combines aesthetic elegance with high-fidelity sound and optimises sound dispersion for an intense listening experience, as Sonus faber S.p.a. itself puts it in a nutshell.
Fine materials, highest craftsmanship
The speaker systems in the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection are all made from fine, natural materials, true to the Italian tradition, as the company explicitly emphasises. One special feature is the use of cork, a material that was discovered during the development of the Sonus faber Suprema and used for the lining of the inner chamber. Selected loudspeaker systems in the new Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection now also have this feature, which improves the resolution of mid and high frequencies and achieves a natural reproduction.
It is also interesting to note that in this case the familiar high-quality wooden cabinets, which Sonus faber S.p.a. manufactures in its own joinery, are supplemented by a new concrete base, which is intended to ensure greater stability and better vibration management.
Sonus faber Camelia Midrange Driver
A visually striking feature of the Sonus faber Suprema is the so-called Sonus faber Camelia Midrange Driver, which catches the eye not least because of its white, flower-like shape. This can also be found in selected speaker systems from the new Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection and is also intended to contribute significantly to the clear, detailed and, above all, natural sound of the speakers.
Incidentally, the inspiration for this was taken from a camellia, hence the name for this driver, which also uses an aluminium phase plug to guarantee optimum dispersion.
The bass drivers of the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection also feature a design based on camellias, also in the speaker surround. As with the aforementioned midrange driver, this is also intended to reduce interference and improve sound dispersion.
The drivers also utilise a sandwich structure made of paper pulp, which ensures precise and dynamic bass reproduction. In addition, there is an organic basket that optimises the air flow, as the manufacturer states.
Silk Dome D.A.D. tweeter
A silk dome tweeter is used for the highest frequency range, which, according to Sonus faber S.p.a., ensures unadulterated and detailed high-frequency reproduction and thus rounds off the promised detailed and always balanced listening experience of the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection speaker systems in the truest sense of the word.
Seven of them – for stereo and home cinema
As already described in the introduction, the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Collection is extremely broadly positioned, with the spectrum ranging from bookshelf speaker systems and floor-standing speaker systems to centre speakers and solutions for wall mounting. As a result, this product line from Sonus faber S.p.a. is once again ideally suited for use with classic HiFi in stereo as well as in home cinema.
The Sonus faber Sonetto I G2, designed as a two-way bookshelf loudspeaker system, forms the entry point, followed by the Sonus faber Sonetto II G2, also a two-way bookshelf loudspeaker system. The Sonus faber Sonetto III G2 and Sonus faber Sonetto V G2 solutions are a 2.5-way floor-standing speaker system and a three-way floor-standing speaker system respectively, while the flagship of the product line is the Sous faber Sonetto VIII G2 in the form of a thoroughly impressive three-way floor-standing speaker system.
The range is rounded off by the Sonus faber Sonetto Centre G2 and the Sonus faber Sonetto Wall G2, while the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Stand is available as an optional accessory.
