Of course, for many HiFi enthusiasts, the record players from Pro-Ject Audio Systems are the main focus, as the company has been the undisputed market leader in this field for years. The company has also made an impeccable name for itself in the electronics sector with the Pro-Ject Box Design Series. What is not so well known, however, is that Pro-Ject Audio Systems also has speaker systems to offer in the form of the Pro-Ject Speaker Box Series.
This product range, primarily designed to perfectly complement the electronic components of the Pro-Ject Box Design Series, is now being expanded to include a new speaker system, the new Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon.
Compact, elegant bookshelf speaker system
The new Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5E Carbon is designed as a bookshelf speaker system, with the developers focussing on a particularly elegant, simple design. With dimensions of 270 mm in height, 165 mm in width and 220 mm in depth, this solution is likely to find its place almost anywhere, with each speaker weighing in at 4,76 kg.
The housing is made of resonance-free MDF, as Pro-Ject Audio Systems explains, and in addition to a real wood veneer walnut finish, you can choose between five different lacquer finishes. All of these are in silk matt, with a choice of white, black, yellow, blue and green. Connoisseurs of the brand will immediately notice that these colours are exactly the same as those currently used by Pro-Ject Audio Systems for its Pro-Ject Debut Series record player…
In fact, the colours are correctly named Satin Golden Yellow, Satin Fir Green, Satin Steel Blue, Satin Black and Satin White.
It should also be mentioned that the front can be adorned with an optional speaker grille, which is held in position solely by magnets.
Audiophile two-way bass reflex system
The Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon is designed as a two-way bass reflex system, with a 5-inch diameter bass-midrange driver made of glass fibre-carbon composite material and combined with a 1-inch silk dome tweeter.
The bass reflex system is led out to the rear, so the Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon requires at least a few centimetres of distance from the wall, but apart from that, it should prove to be very flexible in terms of placement.
From a purely technical point of view, this is a speaker system that can cover a frequency range between 65 Hz and 20 kHz, has a sensitivity of 86 dB and an impedance of 4 ohms. The manufacturer recommends amplifiers with an output of between 10 and 150 watts.

The new Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon will be available immediately from specialist retailers, and, as already mentioned, either in a silk matt lacquer finish in five colours at a price of € 499,-, or in a walnut finish for which the manufacturer lists a recommended retail price of € 550,-. It should be mentioned that Pro-Ject Audio Systems offers an optional wall bracket for the new Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon.
