Pro-Ject Pick it MM E - New entry-level pickup system

Pro-Ject Audio Systems is currently presenting the Pro-Ject Pick it MM E, another solution in the Pro-Ject Pick it Series, a pickup system aimed at beginners who are looking for a solution with a particularly good price-performance ratio.

Story Highlights
  • Pro-Ject Audio Systems describes the new Pick it MM E as a new MM cartridge system in the entry-level class with an outstanding price-performance ratio.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems already has a wide range of products in the field of cartridge systems. What initially began with modifying pick-up systems for selected record players from its own portfolio with its long-standing partner Ortofon A/S is now an independent product line from Pro-Ject Audio Systems, the so-called Pro-Ject Pick it Series.

The new Pro-Ject Pick it MM E, with which Pro-Ject Audio Systems is targeting beginners, is now being extended once again by a pick-up system.

Ultimate price-performance ratio

Products from Pro-Ject Audio Systems should always be characterised by a good price-performance ratio – this has been the company’s credo since its foundation. In the case of the new Pro-Ject Pick it MM E, however, we are talking about nothing less than the ultimate price-performance ratio.

The manufacturer states that with the new Pro-Ject Pick it MM E, they have developed a cartridge system that delivers high-quality music playback and that the price has been set as low as possible so that a particularly broad customer base can benefit from it.

Cartridge with low mass system

According to Pro-Ject Audio Systems, the new Pro-Ject Pick it MM E utilises a low mass system in which a miniature neodymium magnet acts as a generator. The low mass guarantees a very low inertia and therefore the best conditions for a particularly accurate pick-up of all details.

The Pro-Ject Pick it MM E has a conical stylus and is therefore intended to provide warm, linear audio reproduction with low background noise, as the manufacturer promises.

The housing is made of ABS, a very lightweight material with special properties that ensure optimum damping to effectively minimise mechanical vibrations. The pickup system weighs only 5,5 g and has a 1/2 inch mounting.

A particular advantage of the Pro-Ject Pick it MM E is of course, for the sake of completeness, that the stylus can be replaced if necessary.

Technical data of the Pro-Ject Pick it MM E cartridge

The output voltage of the Pro-Ject Pick it MM E with a weight of 5,5 g is specified by the manufacturer as 3,8 mV, the recommended terminating resistor as 47 kHz, the transmission range as 10 Hz to 20 kHz, the tracking force as 1,8 to 2,2 g and the recommended tracking force as 2,0 g.

Prices and availability

The new Pro-Ject Pick it MM E should be available from specialist retailers in the next few days. The recommended retail price is € 59,-. This cartridge system will also be found on various Pro-Ject Audio Systems turntables in the proven manner.

Getting to the point

The declared aim of the developers at Pro-Ject Audio Systems was to develop a cartridge with the Pro-Ject Pick it MM E that delivers high-quality music playback and at the same time can be offered at a particularly favourable price, thus opening up the world of high-quality music playback using vinyl records to as many beginners as possible.
