Nubert electronic GmbH on the road on behalf of the Lord
Nubert electronic GmbH is now working on behalf of the Lord, namely in the Balderschwang parish church, where the company's loudspeaker systems are being used to adequately accentuate the electronic sacred organ.

It has long been common for churches to rely on more or less modern sound reinforcement systems, usually using products that actually originate from sound reinforcement technology and have therefore been developed by specialised manufacturers. However, it is not so common for a company whose primary field of business is consumer electronics, such as Nubert electronic GmbH, to be involved.
Nevertheless, the company from Schwäbisch Gmünd was recently confronted with such a task, whereby it was not so much about the general sound reinforcement of a church, but specifically about making an electronic sacred organ sound as powerful as possible.
An organ, an instrument fit for a king
Anyone who has ever experienced a powerful organ in a large church, or even a cathedral, will probably never forget this impression. An organ is quite rightly regarded as a royal instrument; no other instrument can be more powerful and therefore more impressive and cast a spell over people.
Unfortunately, it is somewhat sobering that many churches nowadays rely on electronic solutions, although this is of course primarily for practical and not least financial reasons.
The Balderschwang parish church in the Allgäu region, for example, now uses an electronic sacred organ. The church, dedicated to St. Anthony, was built in 1836 at an altitude of 1,044 metres as the centre of an idyllic mountain village and has now been completely renovated. In the course of this, the video and audio equipment also had to be brought up to date and appropriate lighting installed, as Radio Horab regularly broadcasts services from the Balderschwander parish church.
Although there was great joy about the renovation in principle, a few details of the new features initially clouded the overall picture, as the sound of the electronic sacred organ in particular was not entirely convincing.
Nubert electronic GmbH relies on active and passive loudspeaker systems
Contact was therefore made with Nubert electronic GmbH via Radio Horeb, and Thomas Bien, development engineer at Nubert electronic GmbH, was entrusted with the project, as he himself had worked in the field of sacred organs before joining the loudspeaker specialist. This made him the perfect man for the job, as he was able to provide expert advice on the selection, positioning and configuration of the speakers and install the entire ensemble professionally, according to Nubert electronic GmbH.
“It was particularly tricky to achieve a sound image that was as free of colouration as possible with a homogeneous reverberation time in the room. It was also important to achieve the required sound level for low organ tones.”

The Nubert nuZeo 11 is now used for the choir organ as well as the Nubert nuBoxx B-70 and the Nubert nuVero 170 for the main manuals and the pedal unit. According to Nubert electronic GmbH, this special configuration involved a great deal of tinkering and calibrating until a sound result was finally achieved that literally makes you sit up and take notice.
The digital organ, which is now equipped with a sampling set from the large organ of the main church in Rotterdam, now sounds very realistic with the loudspeaker systems from Nubert electronic GmbH. Even at full level and with all stops pulled down (‘tutti’), the sound is indistinguishable from that of a mechanical, ‘real’ pipe organ, even when reproducing the lowest 32-foot organ stops.
Getting to the point
Nubert electronic GmbH has realised an unusual but very interesting project involving its loudspeaker systems with the Balderschwander parish church in the Allgäu region. The fact that loudspeaker systems from the consumer electronics sector are used to present an electronic sacred organ as realistically as possible is certainly not an everyday occurrence and one can probably say with a wink that Nubert electronic GmbH is travelling on behalf of the Lord here…
