- The new SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player from FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. presents itself in the style of a classic portable music cassette player.
This solution is probably aimed primarily at a young target group, users who rely on the possibilities of modern personal audio devices but appreciate a certain retro touch, which explains why FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. is presenting the new SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player, a DAP in the style of a portable music cassette player from the 1980s and 1990s.
This is primarily due to the corresponding form factor, as well as a display with a special user interface and buttons that correspond exactly to those on a Sony WALKMAN in the 1980s.
Classic tape player design
The manufacturer itself speaks of a classic tape player design, and as already mentioned, the company is also focussing on the associated form factor. The new SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player therefore measures 80 x 54,5 x 14,5 mm and weighs just 55 g.
The central control element of this new DAP is a 1.99-inch IPS HD colour display with 170 x 320 pixels, which features a very special user interface. This displays an animated music cassette during music playback.
DAP with the latest features
Of course, no magnetic tapes are actually played back here, the content comes from microSD cards, whereby storage media with a capacity of up to 256 GB can be used. The player itself has a memory of 8 GB.
The new SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player supports audio data in all relevant formats, including MP3, M4A, Ogg Vorbis, APE, WAV, FLAC and DSD.
Signal processing is carried out using D/A converters from Cirrus Logic Inc., whereby two CS43131 DACs are used to process signals in Linear PCM with up to 24 bit and 192 kHz as well as DSD including DSD256.
The SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player has an equaliser so that playback can be adjusted to your own preferences.
Cable or Bluetooth
The output stage of the SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player provides two 130 mW into 16 ohms via the unbalanced 3.5 mm stereo mini jack or two 150 mW into 16 ohms via the balanced 4,4 pentaconne.
Bluetooth is also available as an alternative, whereby Bluetooth 5.3 is used and the SBC and AAC codecs are supported.
The integrated 1.100 mAh battery of the SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player is said to offer a playing time of up to 15 hours and is charged via USB-C, whereby this interface can also be used for data transfer to the portable music player.
Prices and availability
The new SNOWSKY Echo Mini Portable High-res Lossless Music Player is available in black, cyan and pink, with a price tag of € 64,98.
