Sennheiser AMBEO|OS and update for Sennheiser Smart Control App

With Sennheiser AMBEO|OS, Sennheiser Consumer Audio GmbH is now presenting a newly developed operating system for the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar and thus a solution that is regarded as one of the best of its kind on the market. The Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar can clearly be described as one of the few soundbar systems that is actually capable of conjuring up home cinema in the living room from a single device, including immersive surround sound via Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Sony 360 Reality Audio.

Based on the new Sennheiser AMBEO|OS, the manufacturer Sennheiser Consumer Audio GmbH is convinced that an even better home audio experience is guaranteed. At the same time as the new operating system, the company is also presenting the latest version of the Sennheiser Smart Control App for Apple iOS and Google Android, which guarantees even easier handling, especially in combination with the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar.

According to the manufacturer, the new Sennheiser AMBEO|OS operating system for the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar will enable an even more intensive 3D listening experience. It complements the soundbar’s ecosystem, offers new features and takes the user experience to the next level.

Users will have even more options with the new version of the operating system to embed the best possible sound into their own digital ecosystem, the manufacturer says.

The new Sennheiser AMBEO|OS has been carefully optimised to ensure a smooth and optimal listening experience and, in conjunction with the latest version of the Sennheiser Smart Control App, also guarantees easier operation.

WiFi instead of Bluetooth

Until now, it was not possible to use the Sennheiser Smart Control App for Apple iOS and Google Android via the network, but only via Bluetooth, even though the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar can actually be integrated into the network.

The reason for this is probably to be found in the fact that Sennheiser Hearing provides the Sennheiser Smart Control App not only for the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar, but also for the company’s various headphones, which are of course all limited to Bluetooth alone.

But that’s over now, with the help of Sennheiser AMBEO|OS and the latest version of the Sennheiser Smart Control App, it’s finally possible to connect via WiFi, resulting in a much faster, more reliable connection and therefore smoother control.

Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect Support

It is also particularly exciting that with the new Sennheiser AMBEO|OS, additional streaming options are now supported. For example, the Sennheiser AMBEO soundbar is now able to use Apple AirPlay 2 as well as Spotify via Spotify Connect and TIDAL via TIDAL Connect, in addition to Google Chromecast.

New web interface

Another new feature is that the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar based on Sennheiser AMBEO|OS can now be controlled via a web interface in addition to the app. This will enable users to control and configure the soundbar via the network using any web browser.

Prices and availability

The Sennheiser AMBEO|OS firmware update is available immediately, as is the latest version of the Sennheiser Smart Control App for Apple iOS and Google Android. The firmware update is carried out automatically, so that users do not have to intervene at all in most cases. Of course, this update is not associated with any costs for existing customers.

Getting to the point

We still think that the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar is probably the best solution of its kind on the market. This solution is one of the few such systems that can actually provide home cinema in the living room from a single device, including immersive surround sound in Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Sony 360 Reality Audio. App control via Bluetooth, on the other hand, was not in keeping with the times and also not up to par for a premium-class solution, a shortcoming that has now been remedied by Sennheiser Consumer Audio GmbH with the new Sennheiser AMBEO|OS and the latest version of the Sennheiser Smart Control App.
